Steam distilled from the fruits. Has a pleasant, fruity Lemon scent, kind of intense and sweeter than Lemongrass. It is prized in perfume blending.

In traditional Chinese medicine it is known to be used with dysmenorrhea, indigestion, lower back pain, chills, headaches, muscular aches and pains and travel sickness. May be helpful for nervous tension and stress related conditions.

Recent research has shown it to be valuable in the treatment of cardiac arrythmia ( disordered heart rhythm). Used as a fragrance component in soaps and perfumes.
