Aromatherapy Daily Tip
As I was taking my morning walk I realized that every time I pass by a Rosemary bush I pick a piece and rub it between my hands then smell my hands. It invigorates me as I continue my walk. Today I had this ah ha moment, I am actually sanitizing my hands as I do this! In the Middle Ages, Rosemary was believed to be able to ward off evil spirits and to prevent the onset of the bubonic plague. With this belief, Rosemary branches were commonly strewn across floors and left in doorways to keep the disease at bay. It was used throughout the civilizations in cosmetics for its antiseptic, anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant properties and in medical care for its health benefits. Rosemary had even become a favorite alternative herbal medicine for the German-Swiss physician and botanist Paracelsus, who promoted its healing properties, including its ability to strengthen the body. Despite being unaware of the concept of germs, people of the 16th century used Rosemary as incense or as massage balms and oils to eliminate harmful bacteria, especially in the rooms of those suffering from illness. Rosemary Essential Oil’s refreshing and energizing aroma can be diluted with water and used in natural homemade room fresheners to eliminate unpleasant odors from the environment as well as from objects. #rosemary#aromatips#essentialoiltips#aromatherapy#massagetherapy#reiki#acupuncture#stressrelief#relaxingoils#antiviraloils#gardeningtips@yoga#healthcoaching#wellnesstips#nutrionalcoaching#cranialsacral#yogatherapy#relaxation#coronavirus
There is no single essential oil that is most effective against all viruses, so blending several highly-active antiviral essential oils together can provide us with the most effective ‘broad-spectrum’ formula.
Recipe #1 – The Alcohol-Free Version
Combine the following in a large bowl:
- 1/4 cup filtered water
- 1/4 cup aloe vera gel (as pure as you can find)
- 1/4 cup witch hazel
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp vegetable glycerin (this is optional but does soften skin)
- 10 drops tea tree oil
- 10 drops peppermint essential oil
- If you don’t care for the scent of tea tree or peppermint oils, you can do any combination of essential oils that you prefer. According to NIH, essential oils that have the strongest antimicrobial properties include: cinnamon, thyme, clove, mint, origanum and salvia.
Take a stack of paper towels (maybe 20 or so) and cut them in half (or use the kind that comes in multiple sizes). Roll them up and stick in the bowl until they have completely absorbed the mixture. Once there is no liquid left in the bowl, take the whole stack and put in a ziploc bag or leftover baby wipe container. Don’t worry if part of the paper towels is still dry. They will become completely saturated after a few hours in the container. And you are done!
Eucalyptus Radiata has been proven effective in laboratory tests against many viruses.
